THE SKY TODAY
The sky today does not reflect
my self and neither can I interpret
the atmosphere's ambition,
I can study storm fronts and trace
their shadows with the magic hand
of chance, but these are
effects and not the cause.
You and I can stare
into each other's eyes,
these tinted windows,
and feel all we can know,
though I know our
balance is precarious
and, at best, can only guess
where the clouds will be
tomorrow, but children
and real sky watchers know
you do not need to understand
something to love it.
