Four more, what's in store?
[11.11.04]

Well, the Democrats got their asses handed to them, and wow, what a turnout. This election really did prove one thing: the Republicans are better politicians than Democrats. Their machine works, while the Democrats' stutters and breaks down.

Does it mean that it doesn't run well once it gets going? We won't get to find out this time, now will we?

Bush won by a remarkable percentage of registered voters. It was still close, however. Still he concludes that this is a mandate that has been handed to him, and that he can now move from his compassionate self and spend some of the "capital" that he gained in this election.

How much capital did he really get, though? The nation is still bitterly divided, and his approval ratings before the election were still at a dismal 47%, which historically meant you were on your way out as an incumbent. It would seem that the electorate didn't vote for Bush per se, but actually didn't vote for Kerry.

So many Dems prayed that it would be an anti-Bush campaign, but it was the anti-Kerry campaign that won. Flip-flopping, medal-throwing, Kerry walks back to Boston, the home of only one miracle a year. Go Sox.
