Amidst the massive destruction one could see the storm-savvy Jeb Bush touring around Asia with Colin Powell, getting the same amount of press face-time as the soon-to-be-not-Secretary. Grooming for 2008, perhaps? Perhaps the three hurricaines that hit the Florida coast this year were the best thing to happen to Jeb's political carreer. (Oh, so jaded...)

In a bloody week coming before the controversial upcoming elections in Iraq, Baghdad's provincial governor, Ali al-Haidri was assassinated. Sunni pullout of elections is casting doubts as to the legitimacy of the election, while proponents urge that elections, flawed or not, are better than no elections.
